Nanaimo will do its part to contribute to fundraising for cancer research this weekend with the Terry Fox Run.

The charity run, in honour of B.C.’s Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope, is held across the country, including Nanaimo, where a run/walk will be held Sunday, Sept. 17, beginning and ending at Bowen Park from 10 a.m. to noon.

The route will run through the park to Buttertubs Marsh and 1.8-kilometre, 5.5km or 11km routes will be set up. Walkers, runners, people who use wheelchairs, and people pushing strollers are encouraged to take part.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and according to the event page on the Terry Fox Foundation website, there is a goal of $8,000 this year.
