Dave Bare and his team at Harris KIA were presented with an award for raising the most money at the Kids Help Phone walk last year.

The Inspiration Award, presented by the Central North Island chapter of Kids Help Phone, recognizes the top fundraising team at the Nanaimo walk site.

Money raised from the walk supports the help line, ensuring that youth across Canada receive assistance when they reach out.

“We do not receive any core government funding and so we depend on support from corporate sponsors like Harris Kia and individual donors to help us to be there for kids looking for help and hope,” said Nora Loftus, chairwoman of the Nanaimo walk. “Those vital funds will enable counsellors to continue providing round-the-clock support to kids in Nanaimo, 365 days a year.”

This year is the 10th anniversary of the walk, which takes place May 1 at Country Club Centre. Registration is at 10 a.m., with the walk beginning at 11 a.m.
