It turned out that a successful fundraiser was in the cards.
The Cedar Heritage Bridge Group held its 18th annual charity bridge game earlier this month in support of the Haven Society.
The event was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 256 May 7 and drew 95 players and volunteers.
With the help of sponsors including Coastland Wood Industries, Harris Kia, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, 49th Parallel Grocery and Country Grocer, the group was able to raise $8,625 for Haven Society.
Committee member Ken Hall said the group hopes the event not only raised money for the society, but also awareness. Haven helps women and children in abuse and crisis situations with safety, food, clothing and legal advice.
