The grill gets fired up in support of the Mid Island Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association Oct. 19-20.

The association is holding a fundraising raffle and barbecue sponsored by Applecross Home Hardware at the corner of Island Highway North and Hammond Bay Road from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Mental health issues impact one in five people in their lifetime, and the Mid Island Branch of CMHA offers many support and educational programs including the Phoenix Centre clubhouse on Terminal Avenue, the Balmoral housing project on Haliburton Street and the soon to be opened Wesley Street housing project.
