A Nanaimo craft brewery has been awarded top honours at the B.C. Beer Awards.

White Sails Brewing took first place in the North American Blonde Ale category, for its Bastion Blonde Ale, one of 23 entries in the category in 2019.

According to White Sails’ website, Bastion Blonde Ale also took a silver medal at the 2019 Canadian Brewing Awards in the North American Style Blonde or Golden Ale category.

Ballpark Blonde from Red Arrow Brewing Company in Duncan and Royal City Ale from Steel and Oak Brewing Co. in New Westminster took second and third place respectively.

The 2019 B.C. Beer Awards and Festival took place in Vancouver on Oct. 19.
