Ground-breaking held for Nanaimo’s first-ever Porsche dealership

GAIN Group says Nanaimo is a growing market for luxury vehicles

GAIN Group is driving ahead with plans to open the first-ever Porsche dealership in Nanaimo, breaking ground at the site along the old Island Highway this morning.

A development permit was granted by the City of Nanaimo in February 2022 and dignitaries and stakeholders were at the Wills Road location Wednesday, Feb. 28, for the ceremony.

The company owns luxury dealerships across the Island. Peter Trzewik, GAIN Group partner, said doors are expected to open at the Porsche dealership in spring 2025.

“We basically will sell pre-owned cars,” Trzewik told the News Bulletin. “We will be delivering the new cars out of the Victoria dealership and then service them up here and keep the warranty intact and have the specialists up here.”

It is hoped that new vehicles will eventually be sold at the Nanaimo dealership, he said, as there is a market for high-end automobiles in the city.

“It has become a good town for our other brands in the luxury segment, for Mercedes, for BMW,” said Trzewik. “They’ve now been here for 10 years and it seemed like a wild dream at the time and today it’s become a very good market. In the last five, six, seven years, the city has changed, the market has changed.”

A Subaru dealership is being built on adjacent land and both are on the former site of Long Lake Nurseries.
