B.C. Premier Christy Clark is the keynote speaker at the closing luncheon at the 10th annual State of the Island economic summit on Oct. 27.

Clark will address delegates gathered for the economic summit at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo.

Clark was sworn in for her second term as British Columbia’s 35th premier on June 10, 2013 and was elected Westside-Kelowna MLA on July 10, 2013.

According to a press release from the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, which organizes the annual event, Clark is focused on building a strong foundation by growing a strong, diverse economy that puts British Columbians first. She and her team are fighting for economic development, expanding international trade, and strengthening skills training.

“We are delighted to have Premier Clark joining us for our 10th anniversary,” said Po Wan, VIEA board chairperson.

The summit begins Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m., with a showcase featuring nine tech start-up companies, followed by the opening of the summit tradeshow at 10:30 a.m.
