Beef. I had a 20-minute appointment with the dentist for four small fillings. The bill came to $991. This works out to over $40 per minute.

Beef to the silver truck. You must think rolling the coal on an elderly man is funny. I am sure you rev it up and blow your black smoke on everyone walking the sidewalk. You exhausted particulate all over an old man who started coughing and had to put a handkerchief over his mouth.

Beef to the dentist for talking politics with his young assistant while he has his thumb on my jaw. It’s frustrating being unable to present an opposing view.

Bouquet To the person on a street bike driving down Bowen Road wearing a full-on fuzzy Elmo helmet. I wasn’t having a very good day and you made me laugh when I saw you behind me.

Beef to the store that allows dogs inside. A dog jumped up on a child in the checkout and scratched the boy’s face. Shoppers shouldn’t have to worry about their children being scratched by dogs inside a store.

Beef to the parent on the bus who allowed their child to jump on fellow passengers asking for money and candy. Your child should not be taking literal candy from strangers.

Slavery thankfully hasn’t existed in Canada since 1834. Why does the building industry insist on calling the largest bedroom in a dwelling the master bedroom?

Beef to the eatery in the downtown Nanaimo area. I asked the woman behind the counter if I could please have my dressing on the side of my salad as I had special dietary needs – only to be told absolutely not. She told me to bring my own lunch next time.

Beef to the person who blames postal workers for taking away his/her tradition of receiving Christmas cards in the mail.Your beef is with your friends who choose to use the internet rather than the mail service to send cards. Your beef has absolutely nothing to do with the postal service.

My wife went to the gas station to ask if she could use the phone to call long distance; because of the power outage, she had to make a call to family to cancel Christmas dinner. The attendant said flatly they did not allow phone use.

Where’s the tomato? How cheap can the chicken place be? I got a half slice of tomato on my burger. I’m told this is it.

I noticed a wall poster in the washroom of the library. The ‘wash your hands’ instructions are written in several different languages yet one of the official languages of Canada is missing. Why is there no instruction in French?

Beef to my neighbour for writing a beef about me trimming my own hedge and complaining about the sight of my trailer. The hedge is entirely on my property and if one more egg gets thrown at my trailer, I will be forced to contact the RCMP.

Beef to the fireplace on cable TV. Those of us who have little joy in our lives eagerly look forward to fireplace channel and are crestfallen to see the same pieces of firewood being used every year.
