Beefs and bouquets

Beef to the neighbours. We have lived next to you for over six years, in that time, I can count on one hand the nights you haven’t trespassed on our property. The damage from cut fences, broken door knobs, scratched and pried doors and broken locks; banging on gates, windows, and walls; theft of wi-fi, money and jewelry is just too much.

Bouquet to the person who shared their favourite dinosaur, that made my day. My favourite is the T-rex, as I am named after it.

Beef. Sorry I play my music loud downtown; it is the only way I can be in my yard and tolerate the thousands of vehicles that rip past my home.

Beef. I am a senior who would like to purchase an e-bike so that I don’t have to use gas. However, I either pay my property taxes or buy the bike, as I can’t afford both. The cost of just living in Nanaimo is horrendous.

Beef to the supermarket for not keeping its floors cleaned. I have slipped three times in the past six months by the deli area on some sticky substance, with no apology.

Beef to the irresponsible dog-owner/walker who left a dog bag full of poo tied up on the utility box on the sidewalk along Corfu Drive. That is so disgusting and it takes a special character for someone to do something like that. Where’s your sense of decency?

Beef to my friend who calls themself a dog lover and requires a dog companion but has no time, stability, and funds to care for the dog. Leaving it in your bedroom all day, every day, has made it fearful. Please re-home your dog before it bites someone.

The premier dropped the F-bomb during debate in the legislature. That doesn’t leave much for special occasions. Can’t imagine what he would say if he hit his thumb with a hammer.

Beef to the person or persons who have stolen my car. I was working a 12-hour nursing shift, only to discover at the end of it that my hard-earned car was gone. Can you bring it back and leave it outside the hospital where you got it?

Beef to the lady who walked up in the parking lot and starting touching my baby without asking and then gave me a confused ‘why not?’ when I said I prefer no touching.

Beef to the lady at the grocery store who upon falling as she left the store decided to repeatedly swear at my teenage daughter who went to ask if she was OK and needed help. No wonder your husband stayed in the car instead of helping you out.

Bouquet to our lovely neighbours who rescued our chihuahua, Dave, after he was accidentally left out in the cold. We were desperately searching and you had him safe and warm in your truck. He had a great adventure that night.

Beef to the people who made my worker upset today. She works very hard every day to take care of me and make sure I’m safe. When we go to cross the street stop, don’t roll or keep moving. My worker not only has to make sure I get across safely, but has to watch you.

Beef to the dog owners who are good enough to walk their pets and bring a bag for the poop, yet not good enough to take that bagged poop home. When you own a dog, you are responsible for everything, from one end to the other.

Beef to the prime minister. I’m 74 and can’t afford rent so I live partially in my car. I can’t afford enough gas, not to drive around, but to warm my car at night as it’s darn cold.
