Beefs and bouquets

Beef to the woman focused on her phone, driving a dark-coloured sedan through the Cilaire school zone. Perhaps you could use that same device to research some of the accidents and injuries caused by drivers who can’t seem to stay off their phones whilst behind the wheel.

Beef to ICBC for the insulting rebate. Mine was $5. Forty-plus years incident-free and this is how they thank us.

Beef. I noticed a man who had apparently toppled out of his wheelchair and was lying on Boundary Avenue near the hospital’s emergency department. I was shocked as numerous people casually walked by and ignored him. Thank you to the kind gentleman and others who did stop to offer help.

Beef to the beefers. Please season your beefs. We require a little more spice in our Wednesday-morning work beef huddle.

Beef to visual media. Stop showing endless close-up clips of people being vaccinated with needles looking like street lamp posts. Many of us suffer from trypanophobia and may be reluctant to be injected. Silly of us? Yes.

Beef to the lady ranting about her rights and refusing to wear a mask at the garden centre. Beefs also to the young man 10 minutes later also refusing and arguing with the kind staff. Stop being so entitled and disrespectful.

Beef to all the entitled parents who drop off secondary school students in the middle of McGirr Road. This is not a drop-off zone; it is a road. There is a three-lane drop-off zone in the parking lot. It is not only dangerous, but selfish to think that all of the people on the road behind you have more time than you do, to wait for you.

Beef to the driver of the blue SUV that cut me off on Mary Ellen Drive, then pulled a U-turn in front of traffic to chase me and my girlfriend down the highway. What an exciting road rager you are.

Beef to the woman walking two dogs that attacked my two small chihuahua dogs along Estevan Road. I was dragged down the embankment with my dogs. All three of us were pinned against the fence by your dogs with no escape route. Your dogs were on retractable leashes that were not appropriate for their size and weight and you had no control over them at all.

Beef to the bakery. After buying a dozen cookies and two pieces of cake I paid for with my debit card, I asked for a bag to carry it as I was walking with two young kids and had to hold their hands. I was told five cents. I didn’t have change so I gave back my debit card. She said “I can’t use that for a small order.” I said I don’t have any change. Then she just walked away.

Beef to the driver who honked her horn angrily at a group of daycare children who were walking at the side of the road with their daycare provider on a dead-end street. You scared the children and shouted at them to “get out of the road.”

Beef to the grocery store deli selling a Mexican seven-layer dip with a label that reads ‘perfect for parties and get-togethers.’ Is this appropriate during a pandemic? I think not.

Beef to the person in the little car who tailgates me with high beams along Kilpatrick and Jingle Pot in the morning and lays on the horn when I turn left onto East Wellington. If following the speed limit is not going to get you where you are going on time please do not take it out on me. May I suggest you leave a bit sooner.

Beef of the Week: Shame on the Chinese restaurant that uses peanuts instead of almonds on their almond chicken. This is not right.

Beef to the driver of the black truck who pulled up beside us as we were walking on Hammond Bay Road. You proceeded to yell at us and we have no idea what that was about or do you make a habit of yelling at seniors as they’re out walking?

Beef to the rascals at Bowen Park who heckled my elderly friends and I. We were trying to have a COVID-safe seniors speed-dating gathering and your noisy ruckus and loud horsing off scared off many participants.
