That’s how the Westerns were won.
Nanaimo high school wrestlers competed at the Western Canadian Championships in Kamloops Jan. 14-15 and Dover Bay Secondary School’s Faye Tuck, Kimberly Van Hest and Katie Van Hest all won gold.
Winning silver were Dover’s Ryan Yewchin and Karling Van Hest, John Barsby’s Jordan Kuziek and Nanaimo District’s Kyle Clare.
Those seven athletes, plus fellow qualifiers Grace Tuck, Daniel Fleury and Titus Rae, earn the opportunity to compete for Team B.C. at nationals in Windsor, Ont. in April.
