Young boxer wins series

Nanaimo boxer Justis MacKay-Topley won a rubber match, and can now move on to the next challenge.

The Nanaimo Boxing Club athlete defeated Mission’s Tyson Volker on Saturday at an event in the Fraser Valley. It was the fifth meeting between the youngsters, with the Nanaimo fighter now winning the last three. On Saturday MacKay-Topley out-pointed Volker 12-3.

“From what his dad says and the other coaches, he did according to plan, the way we talked about. He did really well,” said Barry Creswell, Nanaimo Boxing Club coach.
