White Rapids impressive to start season

It's the start of summer swim season, and the Nanaimo White Rapids are splashing about merrily. The swim club brought a contingent to the Sidney Sprint Challenge in Victoria this past weekend and swimmers posted terrific early-season times.

The swim club brought a contingent to the Sidney Sprint Challenge in Victoria this past weekend and swimmers posted terrific early-season times. The swimmers also showcased some chemistry, as the Rapids won the Div. 5 boys’ 200-metre medley relay, the Div. 7 girls’ 200m medley relay and the Div. 8 boys’ 200m freestyle relay.

Other first-place results from the competition include:

Div. 1 – Tayden de Pol, first, 100-metre individual medley, first, 50m butterfly, first, 50m backstroke, first, 50m breaststroke, first, 100m freestyle; Lindsey Marshall, first, 50m back.

Div. 2 – Ava Johnson, first, 50m freestyle, first, 50m back, first, 100m free; Mackenzie Kerr, first, 50m fly.

Div. 4 – Callum Richardson, first, 200m IM, first, 50m free, first, 50m fly, first, 100m breast.

Div. 5 – Chris Yates, first, 200m IM, first, 50m free, first, 100m fly, first, 50m fly, first, 100m breast; Nora Loyst, first, 50m free, first, 50m fly, first, 100m back, first, 100m breast, first, 100m free; Zack Todd, first, 100m back.

Div. 6 – Ellen Taekema, first, 200m IM, first, 100m fly; Moira Brown, first, 100m back, first, 100m free.
