Nanaimo's top U16 volleyball players had one more major tournament to get their game in order prior to provincials.
Volleyball B.C.’s Vancouver Island U16 club championships were held Sunday at Vancouver Island University gym.
The Mariners Volleyball Club U16 A girls earned silver medals at Islands, falling 25-20, 25-21 to Parksville Black in the final.
The Mariners U16 AA girls, meanwhile, placed fourth, losing to Comox Valley in the bronze-medal match. Victoria won the U16 AA Island championship, defeating Campbell River 25-15, 17-25, 15-11 in the final.
Both Mariners teams will compete at provincials starting Friday (May 6) in Abbotsford.
