VIU v-ball jumps into top spot

VIU’s men’s volleyball team aced another test this past weekend to climb to top spot in the PacWest.

Vancouver Island University’s men (5-1) swept a pair of matches against the Fraser Valley Cascades on Friday and Saturday at the VIU gym, winning 25-14, 25-23, 15-25, 16-25, 16-14 and then 25-19, 27-25, 25-21.

VIU’s women (2-4) lost Friday night by scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-17, but won Saturday afternoon’s rematch, 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 25-15.

The Mariners volleyball teams now have a bye week. Their next Pacific Western Athletic Association action is Nov. 14-15, when they visit the College of the Rockies Avalanche in Cranbrook.
