The Nanaimo Timbermen needed a place to stay and the Nanaimo Clippers are good sports.
The Timbermen senior A and junior A lacrosse clubs announced Monday they have moved their office into Beban House at Beban Park, where they will cozy up beside the Nanaimo Clippers.
A press release from the Timbermen expressed thanks, calling the Clippers “a shining example of how co-operation in sport makes us a stronger community.”
The T-men announced at the same time that Jen Kennedy has been hired in a corporate sales and game-day role. Kennedy is marketing director with the Clippers.
The Timbermen are continuing negotiations with sponsors and hope to finalize a deal with a major sponsor.
Meanwhile, on-floor preparations for the 2014 season are underway. The junior A T-men play an exhibition against the Victoria Shamrocks on Wednesday (April 16) at 7 p.m. at Fuller Lake Arena. The team begins the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League season on the road April 26 and plays its home opener May 3 at Frank Crane Arena.
