The city's senior A and junior A lacrosse teams announced a slate of new sponsors who believe in Nanaimo Timbermen lacrosse.

A new steering committee comprised of local businessmen will act as a board of directors for the teams. The steering committee members are Jared Cross of Cross & Co., Don Goldsbury of Midas Auto Service, Wayne Hawthornthwaite of Coast Mountain Construction Ltd., Chris Bowman of Investors Group and Farren Ferguson of Fast Forward Consulting.

"These are great lacrosse people that have the same goals and objectives as the Nanaimo Timbermen and they've stepped forward to help us become a success," said Ferguson.

Those stated goals are to have an entertaining brand of lacrosse and competitive teams in the Western Lacrosse Association and B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League.

"What this does is it provides us with a solid corporate base that we can now build on for the long term," said Ferguson.
