Timbermen limbering up for season

Nanaimo's senior A lacrosse team starts the Western Lacrosse Association schedule Friday (May 17) with a road game at Burnaby.

It was an eventful off-season, but the off-season is over now. The real season is about to begin.

The Nanaimo Coastal Windows Timbermen senior A lacrosse team starts the Western Lacrosse Association schedule Friday (May 17) with a road game against the Burnaby Lakers.

“I would love to have another week or two with these guys, but I think we’ll be ready,” said Kaleb Toth, the team’s new coach.

Most of the players have trickled into town in recent weeks and the team has upped the frequency and intensity of practices.

“Everyone’s starting to learn how everybody likes to play,” said Zak Boychuk, T-men goalie. “We’re really turning the corner.”

Toth said players have been working hard.

“That’s the only thing you can ask for as a coach is that each player gives you everything they’ve got,” he said.
