Nanaimo Ocean Paddling Club held its Crazy 8 outrigger race in Nanaimo harbour on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10.

Wolf Presslauer, club commodore, said the event is for six-person outrigger vessels that circumnavigated Saysutshun and Protection islands in a 13-kilometre course. Teams came from the Lower Mainland, Powell River and across Vancouver Island and at stake was “pride and fun,” Presslauer said.

It was the 17th annual Crazy 8 event.
