The North Island Silvertips earned a win against the league’s first-place team last weekend and will be looking to build on it.

Nanaimo’s B.C. Major Midget League team, coming off a split last weekend in Prince George against the Cariboo Cougars, plays a home-and-home series Saturday (Nov. 5) and Sunday against the South Island Thunderbirds.

The Silvertips' 5-4 win over P.G. on Sunday was impressive considering that the team had been humbled 8-2 by the Cougars the day before.

But goals from Garrett Dunlop, Chase Lang, Curtis McCarrick, Will McNamara and Quentin McShane, three assists from Ryan Coghlan and good goaltending from Michael Herringer allowed the visitors to take the two points.

The day before it was Jordan Levesque and David Osborne with Nanaimo's goals.

GAME ON … The Silvertips and T-birds face off Sunday (Nov. 6) at 3 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
