Senior curling comes down to last rock

If the first two weeks are any indication, there are going to be a lot of close finishes this year in the Mid-Island Co-op Senior Curling Cash League.

If the first two weeks are any indication, there are going to be a lot of close finishes this year in the Mid-Island Co-op Senior Curling Cash League.

The first afternoon of action Oct. 12 was an exciting one at the Nanaimo Curling Centre as Archie McIntosh made a draw to the button to edge Marg Obee’s team 7-6. Graeme Cave’s team also scored a slim victory that day, 6-5 over Sally Noonan and company.  Bob Hungar beat Val Fenton 8-3 and Brian Scorer defeated Tom Renton 7-2.

In Week 2, the best game was Renton’s 6-5 win over Noonan. Other notable scores saw three skips move to 2-0 as McIntosh beat Cave 10-4, Hungar handled Ron Dunn 12-4 and Scorer beat Fenton 7-3.

The senior cash league holds draws every Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the curling centre and spectators are welcome.
