The semifinals will be doubly intense – it’s not just playoff lacrosse, it’s rivalry playoff lacrosse.
The senior B Nanaimo Timbermen begin their post-season this Friday (July 22) when they face the Ladner Pioneers in Game 1 of the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association semifinals.
“It’s our rivals,” said Shawn Swanson, Timbermen general manager. “Definitely guys that have been around for a long time know that these are our favourite series to play.”
Nanaimo beat Ladner in the league finals last summer, and the teams have played close games this year. The matchups feature not only physical team play, but physical individual battles on the floor.
Swanson looks forward to seeing how this year’s Timbermen respond to playoff lacrosse.
“It’s just a matter of if the guys know how to turn it on when they need to turn it on,” he said.
GAME ON … All senior B lacrosse playoff games will be at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. Game 1 is a 7 p.m. faceoff Friday.
