The Nanaimo Redmen had a chance, but they were unable to come up with their first win of the season.

The city's Vancouver Mainland Football League midget team (0-6) suffered its most lopsided loss of the season on Sunday at May Richards Bennett Pioneer Park, falling 29-14 to the Cowichan Bulldogs.

The game was there for the taking at halftime, with the score tied 14-14. Jonah Wassell scored on a 45-yard passing play from Dylan Tucker, then Wassell made a 60-yard catch to set up a two-yard touchdown run from Tucker.

GAME ON … The Redmen face the White Rock-South Surrey Titans on Sunday (Oct. 14) in the Fraser Valley. Nanaimo's next home game is Oct. 21 against the Meadow Ridge Knights.
