Raiders quarterback attracting attention

V.I. Raiders quarterback Jordan Yantz won his second straight Player of the Week nod.

V.I. Raiders quarterback Jordan Yantz won his second straight Player of the Week nod.

Yantz was chosen the B.C. Football Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week after going 9-for-15 for 256 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in last Saturday’s 72-6 blowout win over the Westshore Rebels.

After the game he deflected praise to his receivers.

“All of them played outstanding,” said Yantz. “The bottom line is that those guys make me look good and I thank them as much as I can.”

Notably, the Raiders QB needs only three more touchdown passes to become the BCFC's all-time leader in that category. Yantz, just beginning his fourth season with the Raiders and only his third season as a starter, has 60 touchdown passes in his career, two back of the record 62 shared by Shawn Olson of the Surrey Rams and Nate Cote of the Victoria Rebels.
