Players will experience Russian hockey

A group of B.C. Hockey League talent will get to call itself Team Canada at a tournament in Russia this month.

Nanaimo Clippers forward Brayden Jaw and Victoria Grizzlies forward Evan Richardson, who is from Nanaimo, were invited to play on the BCHL team at the Russian Invitational Tournament in Podolsk.

“We’re incredibly excited to be making this trip and giving these young men an opportunity to represent their country,” said Ron Paterson, the team’s general manager.

The Salmon Arm Silver-Backs’ Tim Kehler will coach the squad, which departs Friday (April 8).
