Pirates swept by Athletics

Nanaimo lost four straight to the Okanagan Athletics on Saturday and Sunday in Kelowna, losing 14-1, 5-0, 6-1 and then 4-3.

The Nanaimo Hub CIty Paving Pirates got swept up by the competition this past weekend.

Nanaimo lost four straight to the Okanagan Athletics on Saturday and Sunday in Kelowna, losing 14-1, 5-0, 6-1 and then 4-3.

In the shutout loss, Pirates pitcher Garrett Goodall threw a complete game, allowing one earned run and striking out five. Shawn Arabsky hit a single and a double. In the next day’s early game Goodall singled and doubled. Zach Diewert had two RBIs in the weekend finale.

Nanaimo plays the Parksville Royals on Wednesday (May 28) at 6 p.m. at Parksville’s Springwood Park.

On the weekend, the Pirates travel to play the Whalley Chiefs on Saturday before returning home to take on the Vancouver Cannons on Sunday (June 1) at noon and 2:30 p.m. at Serauxmen Stadium.
