Pirates please crowd

The Hub City Paving Pirates the Coquitlam Reds on Saturday (April 26) and the North Shore Twins on Sunday at Serauxmen Stadium.

The Nanaimo Pirates played some fan-friendly baseball in their home opener, and there’s more home games to look forward to right away.

The Hub City Paving Pirates host doubleheaders against the Coquitlam Reds on Saturday (April 26) and the North Shore Twins on Sunday at Serauxmen Stadium.

Last Saturday the Pirates played the Victoria Eagles, losing 1-0 and then winning 8-7 with a walk-off grand slam.

“To watch a 1-0 ball game, that’s a good game, and then to come back and get that [walk-off win], you don’t see that very often,” said Keith Radix, assistant coach. “We definitely followed through with providing some entertainment.”

This Saturday’s B.C. Premier Baseball League games are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. and Sunday’s action goes at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Admission to the ballpark is $3 for a single game or $5 for a doubleheader.
