Palladian Pirates host tournament action

The city's B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League club is hosting a five-team tournament at Serauxmen Stadium.

The Nanaimo Palladian Pirates will be busy at the ballpark over the long weekend.

The city's B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League club is hosting a five-team tournament at Serauxmen Stadium and the Serauxmen Sports Fields from Saturday (May 18) to Monday.

The host team will play all its games at Serauxmen Stadium, starting with a matchup Saturday at 11 a.m. against the Victoria Eagles. The junior Pirates then play the Langley Blaze at 6:30 p.m., take on Aldergrove AAA on Sunday at 11 a.m. and face the North Delta Blue Jays on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The tournament final is set for Monday at 2:30 p.m.

The junior Pirates were able to get in two games last weekend, losing 5-0 and then winning 3-1 against the North Shore Twins on Saturday at Serauxmen Stadium.

Josh Burgmann threw a complete-game win, allowing no earned runs while striking out eight. North Rainey had two hits and two runs scored, Matt Skingle also had two hits and Adam McLeod reached base three times.
