Paddlers plan for all-out blitz

The Community Boathouse Blitz Dawn-to-Dusk Paddle-a-thon is set for Saturday (June 22) at Long Lake's Loudon Park.

Nanaimo’s paddlers and rowers plan to keep going until they drop.

The Nanaimo Canoe and Kayak Club and the Nanaimo Rowing Club, in partnership with the City of Nanaimo, are holding an event Saturday (June 22) that they’re billing the Community Boathouse Blitz Dawn-to-Dusk Paddle-a-thon.

The clubs are fundraising for a new community boathouse at Long Lake’s Loudon Park.

Saturday’s activities go from 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. and include a pancake breakfast and barbecue picnic. The clubs are asking community members to consider making a pledge to support the fundraising efforts. Pledges can be made online at www.nckc.ca or in person at the park this Saturday.
