PacWest basketball resumes with ‘Island Rivalry’ games at VIU gym

First-place Mariners men’s and women’s teams begin second half of season

Vancouver Island University’s first-place basketball teams are returning to the court as the PacWest’s winter semester begins.

The VIU Mariners men (6-0) sit atop the Pacific Western Athletic Association standings, while the VIU women (5-1) are tied at the top of their conference going into Island Rivalry weekend at the Vancouver Island University gym.

The M’s women take on the Camosun Chargers on Friday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m., and then play a rematch Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. The M’s men take on Camo on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m.
