Next set of basketball camps tip off

VIU coaches and players are hosting another set of basketball camps starting Monday (Aug. 15) at the university gym. This past week it was younger kids taking to the court for the camp, and now the older kids get a chance.

The Vancouver Island University Mariners are spending a lot of time on the court this off-season. Not only are they taking on an NCAA squad in an exhibition game on the weekend, but they're also teaching the game.

VIU coaches and players are hosting another set of basketball camps starting Monday (Aug. 15) at the university gym. This past week it was younger kids taking to the court for the camp, and now the older kids get a chance.

Boys ages 12-18 and girls 13-17 can sign up for the four-day camps, which involve "top-quality instruction and coaching in a fun and competitive environment", according to a VIU basketball press release.

Girls go from 9 a.m. to noon each day for five days, then boys 12-14 go from 1-4 p.m., then boys 14-18 from 5-8 p.m. Cost is $100 for the four three-hour sessions.
