The Nanaimo Timbermen struck first in the B.C. semifinals.
The senior A T-men defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs by a 9-6 score in Game 1 of a best-of-seven series as the Western Lacrosse Association playoffs got underway on the mainland Saturday, Aug. 6.
The T-men held a slim 6-5 lead heading into the third, but controlled the final period, outscoring the home team as well as outshooting them, 17-5.
Jon Phillips led the Timbermen with a hat trick and two assists and Zach Manns and Taggart Clark each had a goal and three assists for Nanaimo. Devlin Shanahan made 34 saves as shots ended up 52-40 in favour of the visitors.
GAME ON … Game 2 will be Monday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. Game 3 will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, in Coquitlam, and then Game 4 will be Friday, Aug. 12, another 7 p.m. faceoff at Frank Crane.
