The Nanaimo Timbermen are one win away from their first-ever appearance in the WLA finals.

The T-men defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs 11-8 in overtime in Game 3 on the Lower Mainland on Wednesday, Aug. 10, and now lead the Western Lacrosse Association semifinal series three games to none.

Taggart Clark scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime and Nanaimo’s defence, transition and goaltending took care of the rest.

Teioshontathe McComber led the Timbermen offence with a hat trick, Zach Manns had two goals and four assists, Colton Lidstone had five assists and Jon Phillips had a goal and two assists. Nanaimo netminder Devlin Shanahan was chosen first star after making 44 saves to out-duel Coquitlam’s MVP goalie Christian Del Bianco.

The Adanacs led 5-2 at one point, but the T-men turned it around and led most of the third period until Coquitlam’s Clark Walter scored a game-tying goal with two seconds left to force overtime.

GAME ON … The Timbermen will host the Adanacs in Game 4 on Friday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
