Nanaimo tag team’s title reign comes to an end

B.J. Laredo and Scott Steel lost the VIPW tag championships Nov. 26 at a show at the Departure Bay Activity Centre.

Two matches in one night proved too much for a Nanaimo tag team.

B.J. Laredo and Scott Steel lost the Vancouver Island Pro Wrestling tag championships Nov. 26 at a show at the Departure Bay Activity Centre, falling to Cremator Von Slasher and Lak Siddartha. Right after the Nanaimo team won a match, Cremator cashed in a title shot he had earned. He and Siddartha double-chokeslammed Laredo and Steel went to break up the three count, but Riea Von Slasher interfered and pulled Steel back outside the ring.

In the main event that night, Nicole Matthews beat Riea to win the VIPW women’s championship. The no-disqualifications match ended with Matthews powerbombing Riea through a table set up in the ring.

VIPW returns to Nanaimo on Feb. 4. The main event will see Laredo and Steel get their rematch against Cremator and Siddartha in a tables, ladders and chairs match.
