It’s now 2022, the year when the Nanaimo NightOwls will finally take to the diamond, and team building is well underway.

The city’s West Coast League baseball team recently announced another seven player signings to go with five signings announced in early December.

The initial group included pitcher Johnny Beck of Western Illinois University, pitcher Bransen Kuehl and infielder Landon Frei of Utah, first baseman/outfielder Josh Marchese of Niagara and infielder Garrett Ostrander of Cal Baptist.

The latest additions include pitchers Mason McGarvey, Carson Olsen and Will St. Marseille of Cal Baptist and corner infielder Grant MacArthur, outfielders Tobey Jackson and Logan Gibson and infielder Xander Sielken of the University of Hawaii.

“We really like the network we have with top schools, and those programs are excited to have their players with our coaches…” said Jim Swanson, NightOwls general manager, in a press release. “It’s a big piece of the puzzle. Scouts we talked to for references had strong words about their college and pro potential.”

The season is slated to start May 31. For more information, visit http://nanaimonightowls.com.
