The Nanaimo Diamonds ’99 fastpitch softball team won its own tournament last month.
The squad bested nine other teams in its division and finished the tourney in style with a 1-0 shutout of the Victoria Devils in the final.
Diamonds ace Jordyn East threw a complete game with 12 strikeouts and was backed up by strong defence.
“The girls won because they deserve to win,” said coach Colin East in a press release. “They practise hard, they have fun and they know when to turn it on.”
