Four women representing the Nanaimo Curling Centre are B.C. club champions.

Team Konyer – Mary Ellen Konyer, Sharon Wright, Karen Hungar and Kellie Rice – won the women’s title at Curl B.C.’s B.C. Club Challenge held in Abbotsford March 21-24.

The Konyer rink defeated Comox Valley’s Team Morrissey 8-3 in the final. Konyer scored two with the hammer in the first end, stole one in the second and stole two more in the third to take an insurmountable lead.

Konyer and her teammates went 4-1 in pool play at the event, which attracted 12 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams from around the province.

The B.C. club champs can enter the Pacific International Cup curling event in Richmond April 17-21 and also a to-be-finalized national event in November.
