Nanaimo Canoe and Kayak Club is offering opportunities to get out on the water and learn some paddling skills at the club’s summer camps.

The summer camps are for paddlers of all abilities and no previous paddling experience necessary.

Paddling camps are held at Long Lake and are already underway. They go on rain or shine and during the first week participants experienced voyageur canoes and dragon boats, learned kayaking and canoeing skills, took part in land games, crafts and team sports, such as soccer, basketball and volleyball.

Camps run Monday to Friday and participants can register for half-day and full-day camps where they will learn how to handle their boats in the water, care for equipment and practice skills in a variety of different paddle sport vessels.

To learn more about NCKC, its summer camps, and how to get involved, visit www.nckc.ca, call 250-758-4052 or e-mail information@nckc.ca.
