Vancouver Island’s two junior A lacrosse teams were expecting their pre-season game to be spirited, and it was.
The Victoria Shamrocks defeated the Nanaimo Timbermen 11-7 on Wednesday at Fuller Lake Arena in Chemainus.
Nanaimo’s offence was led by Corey Shires, who scored a had trick and added an assist. Brady Jorgensen had a goal and two helpers and other T-men scorers were Brett Fleming, Mitch Parker and Brett Hawrys.
Victoria got a hat trick from Dominik Pesek.
The Timbermen junior A team plays another exhibition Saturday (April 20) against the senior B Timbermen at 7:30 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
