Junior Timbermen win in blowout

NANAIMO – The T-men defeated the Burnaby Lakers 20-4 on Saturday at Frank Crane Arena.

The junior A Nanaimo Timbermen didn’t win on their home floor until the last game of the season, but at least they went out in style.

The T-men defeated the Burnaby Lakers 20-4 on Saturday at Frank Crane Arena before finishing the season the next day on the road with a 15-6 loss to the Langley Thunder.

In the blowout win, Mitch Parker scored four goals and added four assists and Brett Hawrys had four goals as well. Adam Golia had a hat trick, Corey Shires contributed two goals and six assists and Travis Mickelson had two and two. Andrew Miller, Ryan Hanna, Ben Cawthorne, Tyson Roe and Jeremy Roe were the other scorers and Conor Woroniuk and Nate Clark split time in the crease.

The next day Hawrys scored four times for the T-men and Macgregor Johnston and Tyson Roe also tallied.

The junior A Timber-men (3-17-1) finished seventh in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League and missed the playoffs. Parker (38 goals, 77 points) and Hawrys (46 goals, 75 points) finished in the top 10 in league scoring. Jordan Kuziek (124 penalty minutes), Owen Barker (113 PIM) and Alex McDougall (104 PIM) were first, second and third in penalty minutes.
