The city's junior varsity football teams got another chance to clash on the gridiron, and it was the Barsby Bulldogs that came out on top again.

Barsby defeated the Nanaimo District Islanders 46-12 on Wednesday at John Barsby Secondary School's Canem Field.

There were big plays both ways, but the junior 'Dawgs got more of them. Cam Wright threw three touchdown passes to Ethan Laing, including a 50-yard strike late in the game. Dominic Bertrand scored two rushing touchdowns for the 'Dawgs, including a 61-yard score, and Taylor Markley had Barsby's other touchdown. Defensively, Zachary Taylor had six tackles, Keifer Kazmer had four and Colin Nutting and Mason Scott came up with interceptions.

For the Islanders, Donovan Davidson-Collie scored two touchdowns and was also a playmaker on defence with six tackles. Finn Bradbrooke also had six tackles.

The outcome was similar to the last meeting between the teams two weeks prior, in which the Bulldogs prevailed 42-16.
