Junior B squad wins big

The Nanaimo Timbermen junior B team had its offence in high gear this week.

The city’s Pacific North West Junior Lacrosse League team thrashed Saanich 13-4 on Wednesday night at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. The home team was never threatened, jumping out to a 6-0 lead after one period and extending that margin to 11-1 after two before easing off in the third.

James Brown led Nanaimo’s attack with a hat trick, Cody Dimond had two goals and two assists and Connor Morgan also tallied twice. Dustin Kothlow had a goal and three helpers and Billy Good, Josh Cronan, Tanner High, Ross Radcliffe and Bryden Pelletier were the other goal scorers. Goaltender Mike Berti made 17 stops for the win.

GAME ON … Nanaimo (2-1) plays its next two on the road, visiting Westshore on Thursday (May 19) and then heading up to Campbell River May 22. The next home game for the Timbermen is May 25, when Cowichan visits the NIC for a 7:30 p.m. game.
