The junior A Nanaimo Timbermen have added some scoring punch to the lineup for the coming season.

The city’s B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League club announced the signing of two players who excelled at the junior B level last season with the Armstrong Shamrocks of the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League. Brett Hawrys led that loop in scoring with 46 goals and 38 assists in 13 games. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound right hander earned league MVP honours for his efforts. Owen Barker was fourth in the league in scoring with 21 goals and 29 assists in 11 games. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound lefty might also add some grit – he racked up 100 penalty minutes last year, too.

The junior Timbermen open training camp April 6. They will consider any free agents for a possible tryout; for more information e-mail general manager Jon Nicholson at jon_nich@yahoo.com.
