Gymnasts in fine form at important meet

Nanaimo Gymnastics School athletes were in fine form at an important meet in the Okanagan earlier this month. The club sent a contingent to the Ogopogo Invitational in Kelowna from June 3-5.

Nanaimo Gymnastics School athletes were in fine form at an important meet in the Okanagan earlier this month.

The club sent a contingent to the Ogopogo Invitational in Kelowna from June 3-5, and the NGS gymnasts combined for several top-three finishes at the highly competitive meet. Thanks to their efforts in Kelowna, Maya Asselin-Debelic and Karleena Hatch qualify to join Team B.C. at the Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops in August.

Results from the Ogopogo meet include:

Level 1 argo - Savannah Mercer, third, bars.

Level 1 tyro - Chloe Ingalls, third, all-around.

Level 2 tyro - Abbi Richardson, second, vault, second, all-around; Sarah Brown, second, vault.

Level 3 tyro - Elan Baildham-Troje, second, floor.

Level 3 novice - Katie Stagg, first, vault, third, all-around; Nora Loyst, third, vault.

Level 4 novice - Cassidy Stagg, third, beam.

Level 5 tyro - Emily Mould, second, vault, first, bars, second, beam, second, floor, first, all-around.

Level 5 novice - Maya Asselin-Debelic, third, vault.

Level 5 open - Karleena Hatch, first, bars.

National open - Dana Lainchbury, second, beam, third, all-around.
