It looks as though the broader battle is over, and so the Border Battle can get started.

With the expected end to the teachers’ strike, the B.C. High School Football season can start as scheduled.

The John Barsby Bulldogs, defending provincial champions in AA varsity, kick off 2014 with the Border Battle game against the Ballenas Whalers on Friday (Sept. 19). The game is a Friday night lights matchup at 7 p.m. at Merle Logan Field.

Earlier that day, the Nanaimo District Secondary School Islanders take to the same turf field to play the Seaquam Seahawks at 2:30 p.m.
