The Dover Bay Dolphins expect to play above the net and at the top of their game.

The senior AAA boys’ volleyball team hosts the Island championships this weekend (Nov. 18-19) at the Dover Bay Secondary School gym.

Coach Shawn Owen said the Dolphins can beat opponents from all areas of the court.

“It’s probably one of the most balanced teams that I’ve coached,” he said.

Reynolds, Oak Bay and Claremont are expected to be some of the toughest foes. The Dolphins have recently taken on some of B.C.’s top-ranked team, including Kelowna and Walnut Grove, and have been competitive.

“There’s not a team, I don’t think, in [B.C.] that I don’t think we can compete with,” Owen said. “It’s just that given day, right?”

Friday’s matches are noon-6:15 p.m. and Saturday’s action starts at 10 a.m. The Island final is at 7:15 p.m.
