Nanaimo Diamonds swimmers will get a chance to show what they can do in the water.

The Diamonds synchronized swim team is off to the Lower Mainland this Saturday (April 12) and Sunday for a Synchro B.C. regional meet at Coquitlam's City Centre Aquatic Complex.

Nanaimo's provincial-stream teams are doing really well, said Brenda Scott, Diamonds coach. The athletes performed a sort of dress rehearsal on Wednesday night at Beban Pool and were completely in synch.

"They are looking really strong for the point of the season," Scott said. "I think they just have to keep their focus, keep their energy levels up, have fun."

It's a provincial meet for masters swimmers and for the youngest swimmers, it's a recreational meet that will feel like a big deal.

"It's kind of exciting for them," said Scott. "They get to go over and experience a big competition."
