The Nanaimo Clippers' newest player made his mark immediately.
David Iacono, an 18-year-old defenceman, scored a goal in his first pre-season game Friday in a 6-5 loss to the Victoria Grizzlies at Frank Crane Arena.
Iacono, a 6-foot-1, 185 pounder from Newmarket, Ont. was acquired from Ontario's Markham Waxers in exchange for Nick Bell and future considerations.
The newcomer is "a real good skater," said Mike Vandekamp, Clippers general manager.
"He's going to add some offence to our team from the back end which is something that we need."
Iacono played 37 games for the Waxers last season, scoring seven goals and 15 points and accumulating 67 penalty minutes.
