Chad Brownlee will get the Western Canada Cup hockey tournament started with a concert Friday (April 26) at the Beban Park Social Centre.

Hockey players have usually got the ghetto blaster on in the locker room to help them get pumped up. More often than not the Nanaimo Clippers are listening to country, so they’re looking forward to Chad Brownlee getting the Western Canada Cup started with a concert Friday (April 26) at the Beban Park Social Centre.

Trevor Fitzgerald, Clippers captain, thinks the concert’s going to be awesome.

“Most of the team likes country…” he said. “I’ve got 1,000 songs on my iPod, probably 900 of them country.”

Brownlee, a former BCHL player with the Vernon Vipers, was a nominee for Canadian Country Music Association Male Artist of the Year in 2012.

He will be supported at Friday's show by Braeden Marshal and Jayden Holman.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 or $28 for students. Call 250-751-0593 or go online to www.nanaimoclippers.com.
