Coffee League players circle basepaths

Nanaimo’s Coffee League players haven’t taken long to get into the swing of things at the ballpark this season. Teams scored runs in bunches this week in women’s softball action.

The closest game was down in Ladysmith on Wednesday morning, as the Wheatsheaf ladies defeated Communication Connection 11-10. Up at the McGirr Sports Fields that day, Ron’s Landscaping provided fireworks with their bats, beating Harewood Arms 29-10. Sue Whittaker, Sue Toft, Gloria Young and Sheryl McGhie all hit home runs in the blowout, while Kerri Silverton hit a triple for Harewood.

On Monday the Baker Supply squad, led at the plate by Michelle Franklin, defeated Wheatsheaf 19-11. Also that day Ron’s Landscaping beat Ladysmith 15-8.
