The Nanaimo Timbermen couldn’t get the late-game goals they needed, and lost.

The Coastal Windows Timbermen senior A lacrosse team fell 11-10 to the Maple Ridge Burrards on Saturday night at Frank Crane Arena.

The T-men rattled off three goals in less than a minute in the early stages of the third period and held a 10-9 edge with 10 minutes to go in the game. But the visitors got the only two goals from there, scoring the game-winning goal with five minutes left and hanging on. Down the stretch there were a couple of close calls on crease violations that the home team didn’t agree with.

Cody Bremner led the Timbermen offensively with a hat trick and Blake Kenny had two goals and three assists. Other Nanaimo scorers were Doug Langlois, Jake Emms, Graham Palmer, Kyle Hofer and Cayle Ratcliff. New addition Jimmy Delaney chipped in with four assists and almost had a late game-tying marker. Zak Boychuk made 37 saves as his team was outshot 48-42.

Curtis Dickson, the league’s leading scorer, had three goals and three assists for the Burrards.

GAME ON … The Timbermen (4-9) host the Langley Thunder (7-3) on Saturday (July 13) at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena, then visit the Burrards (7-5) on Sunday.
